Top Ten Children's Books Ever


1. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss- This is the classic story of Sam who thinks he does not like green eggs and ham, until he tries a bite and discovers that these are actually quite delicious.

2. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak- This is the story of an unruly little boy that is sent to bed early for misbehaving. He travels to a distant land of wild things where he becomes their king. When he awakens, he finds his still warm dinner waiting by his bedroom door.

3. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle- This classic tale follows the journey of a caterpillar from birth to butterfly. It tells of the fascinating transformation that a caterpillar undergoes before he grows his wings.


4. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown- This is a great, short bedtime story for all little ones that like to delay bedtime by saying goodnight to everything they own.



5. Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom by Bill Martin Jr. and John Achambault- This is a great alphabet story involving lower case letters climbing up a coconut tree. While more letters climb, the tree begins to bend until they all fall down. This is a silly story of great rhyming that you will never tire of reading to your children.



6. Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman- This is the tale of a baby bird in search of his mother after falling out of a tree. He encounters several creatures thinking they are his mother until a "snort" puts him back in his tree.




7. Julius the Gorilla by Syd Hoff. A favorite of writer and poet Thomas L. Vaultonburg, read to him by his mother.

9.Clouds With a Chance of Meatballs by Judy and Ron Barrett- Cloudy is a great story of a small town that eats the same thing every day. One day, it begins to rain spaghetti and meatballs, then bigger and messier things. Children will love this fantastic tale of falling food from the sky.


10. Harold and the Purple Crayon by Crockett Johnson- This story is all about the fantastic things that can happen when you use your imagination, and your purple crayon.
