Thomas L. Vaultonburg is an outsider poet and independent publisher from Rockford, Illinois, who has been writing poetry for more than four decades. His first collection, Concave Buddha, appeared in 1991. He later founded Zombie Logic Press, publishing poetry and other work outside the traditional literary establishment, and created Zombie Logic Review. Vaultonburg’s poetry ranges from longer surreal and narrative work to the haiku and short poems that have increasingly occupied him in recent years. His work is marked by dark humor, mortality, animals, abandoned places, ordinary Midwestern landscapes, and an affection for the strange things people usually walk past without noticing. He lives in Rockford, where much of his writing begins simply by going outside and paying attention.
